ReENERGIZE CONVERGENCE SCHEDULE

 The Whidbey Ecollaborative proudly presents the ReEnergize Convergence: a four-day introduction to the WE vision and program offerings. Programs throughout the four days will offer a whole-systems approach to design/build and community development, emphasizing sustainable design and renewable energy and conservation. Participants will be introduced to basic hands-on skills by working with a team of environmental professionals, innovative thinkers and the local community on a real-life development project in the community of Langley on Whidbey Island. 

 

Registration is required for each event for those who

have not purchased a Full Weekend Pass.

 

Single evening event passes are available for the

Thursday, July 16

Recycling Aesthetics

     • 11am-1pm - Arrival and check-in - The ReHouse

 

 1pm-4pm - ReAssemblage with John Alsip and Buffy Cribbs - The ReHouse

Learn with two local artists to ReImagine and transform “junk”materials into art.

 

     • 6pm-9pm - Welcome to the Whidbey Ecollaborative Dinner - $25 - Langley Methodist Church

Learn about the Whidbey Ecollaborative vision from local leaders in sustainability while

enjoying a meal featuring organic WI Farmers.

 


 

Friday, July 17

Energy: Bringing Renewables Home

 

     • 9am-10:30pm - Home Energy Auditing with Fred Mitchell - ReHouse

 Energy Auditing, Sustainability, and Conservation in your home

 

  • 10:30am-12:15pm - Energy Conservation and Auditing with Alistair Jackson  - Island County Fairgrounds Pole Building

 Energy Effeciency, LEED Certification, and Conservation in your home

 

  •1pm-2pm - Net Metering and Energy Conservation with PSE - Island County Fairgrounds Pole Building

 Jake will lead a discussion of Net Metering in the Pacific NW 

 

     • 2pm-4:30pm - Renewable Energy Technology with Kelly Keilwitz - Island County Fairgrounds Pole Building

Discover the viability of solar and wind technologies the Pacific Northwest as demonstrated by local clean-tech professionals.

 

     • 7pm - Keynote Speaker:  Patti Southard speaks about Connecting to the Natural and Built Environments - $15 - WI Children's Theater

 Explore the importance of connecting natural and built environments to create livable communities.

 


  

Saturday, July 18

Living Systems Design

 

     • 9am-12pm - Creating Vibrant Communities: Holistic Approaches to Planning, Design and Building with Ross Chapin

Explore a “green” pocket neighborhood and learn from an award-winning architect about the philosophy and methods used in the design.

 

     • 1pm-4:30pm - Community Design Challenge with Ross Chapin and Katy Langstaff - Island County Fairgrounds Pole Building

Collaborate with peers to apply the morning’s lessons about living systems design to the design of an eco-hostel.

 

     • 7pm - Keynote Speaker: Katy Langstaff - speaks about Collaboration in Creating a Vibrant Sustainable Future - $15 - WI Children's Theater

 Learn how collaboration is key to the creation of a sustainable future.

 


 

Sunday, July 19

Collaboration for the Future

 

          • 9am-10:30am - Open Space for Sustainability: We each have something to offer - The ReHouse

Participant led workshops/presentations exploring issues and solutions for sustainability.

 

10:45amCollaboration for the Future! - The ReHouse

Discuss aspects of local and global sustainability with active 'green' organizations.

 

     • 12pm - Lunch & live music - The ReHouse

 Closing ceremonies and lunch featuring local, organic produce.
